Triclosan Toxin Chemical - Keep It Out Of Your Home
Triclosan is in more than just antibacterial soaps.
It is also in
- Hand soap
- Hand sanitizer
- Toothpaste
- Shampoo
- Deoderant
- Cosmetics
- Bedding
- Trash bags
- Carpet padding
- Toys
- Vacuum bags
- Pesticides
Triclosan is so prevalent that a survey by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found the chemical present in the urine of 75% of Americans over the age of 5. It is now showing up in our lakes and waterways, not to mention human breast milk and blood plasma.
Antibacterial products kill off good bacteria as well as bad. Our bodies need good bacteria to help us digest our food and to keep harmful microorganisms from entering our bodies.
The most common illnesses (cold and flu) are caused by viruses. Antibacterials, like triclosan, have little or no effect on viruses.
Bacteria is so prevalent and reproduces so fast that it's impossible to eliminate them anyway. Only 1-2% of bad bacteria is likely to make us sick.
Manufacturers of a number of triclosan-containing toothpaste and soap products claim that the active ingredient continues to work for as long as 12 hours after use. Do you really want that on your body for that long? Besides, the FDA has said that soap with triclosan is no more effective than washing with ordinary soap and water. So why is everyone pushing it?!

Monsanto purchases five seed companies
Farm Industry News
Jun. 28, 2006
Monsanto’s subsidiary American Seeds Inc.
(ASI) just increased its family of regional seed companies by five.
ASI announced plans to purchase on July 1
Kruger Seed Company, Dike, IA;
Diener Seeds, Reynolds, IN;
Sieben Hybrids, Geneseo, IL;
Trisler Seed Farms, Fairmount, IL; and
Campbell Seed, Tipton, IN.
A
news release from Monsanto reported that ASI made the new
purchases to
increase its reach in “underserved geographies with a
technology-rich,
locally oriented business model.”
The businesses are being acquired in a
cash transaction totaling $77 million.
The five companies represent
about 1.4% of the U.S. seed market
and 2% of the soybean seed market.
Dennis
Kruger, president of Kruger Seed, stated,
“Joining American Seeds Inc.
not only expands our pool of genetics
and traits, but ensures our
ability to do so in the future.
In short, this new relationship provides
our customers with the
better of two worlds — the ability to provide
the newest innovations
in the industry while continuing to operate
autonomously and regionally.”
