Raspberry Mango Smoothie

1 cup Frozen raspberries
1 cup Frozen mango
1 1/2 cups Milk or milk alternative ( I used vanilla soy)
1 1/2 cups Orange juice
Instructions

Blend the frozen raspberries and milk in a blender pour into the two glasses filling them halfway.
Rinse out the blender and then blend the mango and orange juice.
Pour the mango mixture on top of the raspberry mixing a little bit at a time so that the pink and orange blend together.
Preparation time: 5 minute(s)

Good info to know about heart attacks
THIS IS VERY INTERESTING THOUGHT I WOULD SHARE IT.

How many folks do you know who say they don't want to drink anything before going to bed because they'll have to get up during the night!!

Heart Attack and Water - I never knew all of this ! Interesting...

Something else I didn't know ... I asked my Doctor why people need to urinate so much at night time. Answer from my Cardiac Doctor -
Gravity holds water in the lower part of your body when you are upright (legs swell). When you lie down and the lower body (legs and etc) seeks level with the kidneys, it is then that the kidneys remove the water because it is easier. This then ties in with the last statement!
I knew you need your minimum water to help flush the toxins out of your body, but this was news to me.
Correct time to drink water... Very Important. From A Cardiac Specialist!

Drinking water at a certain time maximizes its effectiveness on the body: 2 glasses of water after waking up - helps activate internal organs
1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps digestion
1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower blood pressure
1 glass of water before going to bed - avoids stroke or heart attack


I can also add to this... My Physician told me that water at bed time will also help prevent night time leg cramps. Your leg muscles are seeking hydration when they cramp and wake you up with a Charlie Horse.

Most heart attacks occur in the day, generally between 6 A.M. and noon. Having one during the night, when the heart should be most at rest, means that something unusual happened. Somers and his colleagues have been working for a decade to show that sleep apnea is to blame.

1. If you take an aspirin or a baby aspirin once a day, take it at night.
The reason: Aspirin has a 24-hour "half-life"; therefore, if most heart attacks happen in the wee hours of the morning, the Aspirin would be strongest in your system.

2. FYI, Aspirin lasts a really long time in your medicine chest for years, (when it gets old, it smells like vinegar).

Why keep Aspirin by your bedside? It's about Heart Attacks -

There are other symptoms of a heart attack, besides the pain on the left arm. One must also be aware of an intense pain on the chin, as well as nausea and lots of sweating; however, these symptoms may also occur less frequently.

Note: There may be NO pain in the chest during a heart attack.

The majority of people (about 60%) who had a heart attack during their sleep did not wake up.
However, if it occurs, the chest pain may wake you up from your deep sleep.

If that happens, immediately dissolve two aspirins in your mouth and swallow them with a bit of water.

Afterwards: - Call 911. - Phone a neighbor or a family member who lives very close by.
- Say "heart attack!" - Say that you have taken 2 Aspirins. - Take a seat on a chair or sofa near the front door, and wait for their arrival and ....DO NOT LIE DOWN!

A Cardiologist has stated that if each person after receiving this e-mail, sends it to 10 people, probably one life could be saved!

Wedding-day white teeth! My dentist actually told me about this. Use a little toothpaste, mix in one teaspoon baking soda plus one teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide, half a teaspoon water. Thoroughly mix then brush your teeth for two minutes. Remember to do it once a week until you have reached the results you want. Once your teeth are good and white, limit yourself to using the whitening treatment once every month or two.

Candy cane sugar scrub - What a great christmas gift idea!

Peppermint Scrub

Ingredients:
1cup of sugar
1/3 cup of mineral oil (I just used hypoallergenic baby oil)
2 T of corn syrup
1/2 tsp of peppermint extract
1 drop of green food coloring   * omit if you wish*

Coconut Milk Shampoo Recipe


Coconut Milk Shampoo Homemade

  • 1/4 c. coconut milk
  • 1/4 c. liquid castile soap
  • 1/2 tsp. Vitamin E or almond oil
  • 20 drops of essential oil
Combine all ingredients and shake well to mix. 

I don't feel like there is a "coating" on my hair.  Some people experience their hair more oily than normal but I haven't.  If you do experience this, push through and know that your hair will eventually get used to it and settle down.

Oil cleansing works for many people to clear up their acne, combat their dry skin and maintain a healthy glow.  It is all-natural; no harmful chemicals.  The oil will take away makeup in a flash.  And after the cleansing, most don't need a pricey moisturizer!  The downside of oil cleansing is that it may take your skin 1-2 weeks to adjust.  You might see an increase of oily skin.  

Ratios to make the cleanse

Oily skin- 1:3 (such as 1tsp.- 3tsp)

Combination skin- 1:4

Dry- 1:10

Standard- 1:3 - 1:10

Sweet Treat- 1 part hazelnut oil: 1 part sweet almond oil: 2 part avocado oil

Acne-Prone skin- 1 part borage seed oil: 2 part grapeseed oil: 1 part hazelnut oil: 1 part hemp seed oil

Benefits of each oil

Almond- softens, soothes and reconditions skin

Apricot kernel- good for dry, aging and normal skin

Avocado- rich in essential fatty acids, rich in Vitamins A, B1, B2, D, E and good for those with psoriasis and eczema

Borage seed- reduces inflammation, calms skin, promotes blood flow and good for those with eczema, acne and rosacea

Castor- astringent

Grapeseed- well absorbed, good for those with skin sensitivities because it is non-allergenic

Hazelnut- astringent and good for oily skin

Hemp seed- antioxidant, protein and mineral-rich, contains Vitamins A, B1, B2, B3, B6, C, D, E, high amounts of chlorophyll and good for those with eczema, psoriasis, acne and dry skin

Jojoba- good for all skin types especially acne-prone skin

*coconut oil for cleansing may clog your pores and exacerbate blackheads


Oil Cleansing
  1. Get a small amount of oil on your hands and massage it onto your face for  1-2 min.
  2. Wet a clean washcloth with hot water and place the washcloth on your face until it cools down.  The steam will help pull out the impurities.
  3. Wipe off the excess oil.
